Concrete and Steel Footing Information
Footings are required for most Portable Buildings to ensure they remain level and are structurally sound.
There are two major factors that will affect the choice of footings required for your Portable Building:
- Soil Compaction and Type – Ideally compacted soil that is naturally compacted (hasn’t been disturbed for at least 5 years) or has been properly compacted in layers to ensure solid compaction. This is essential before installing any footings.
- Size of your Portable Building – The larger the size of your Portable Building the more solid the footings must be to evenly distribute the weight and provide solid support for the structure.
Footing Requirements
Portable Buildings Over 14 Metres – Any Portable Buildings that are over 14 metres require prefabricated, steel footings that are concreted into the ground (Ideally installed 14 days prior to the delivery of your Portable Building to allow time for concrete to fully cure).
Portable Buildings Under 14 Metres – All Portable Buildings under 14 metres will only require concrete pads (Ideally installed 14 days prior to the delivery of your Portable Building to allow time for concrete to fully cure).
